French term

relevé de la bande métrique

French to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering Laying of submarine cables
The whole sentence is:

"En fin de Travaux, le Titulaire remet à RTE un état justificatif des opérations de valorisation des sur-longueurs de câbles du chantier comprenant les longueurs livrées sur site et le *** relevé de la bande métrique ***de Câble de puissance sous-marin utilisé pour l’installation de la Liaison."

The context is what is done with the bits of left over cable at the end of the work.

Can somebody explain to me that this is please? Is it something to do with it already being measured out/opened in some way?

Thanks

Discussion

Daryo May 13, 2015:
"le relevé de" is a document, not a verb, a kind of "written record of ... some kind of reading"
Nikki Scott-Despaigne May 11, 2015:
Literally, so you can pieve it together:
relever = to read, make a note of
bande métrique = a measuring strip

Proposed translations

note the metres used

Presumably, and I am no expert, the length is printed on the outside of the cable so that you know exactly how much has been used.
Peer comment(s):

agree Nikki Scott-Despaigne : "Note the length used" might be better.
52 mins
Yep! Agree with that.
disagree Daryo : "[le] relevé" is a document [a noun] not a verb + what exactly "la bande métrique" could be is not so obvious
