A veces le damos mucho tiempo y reflexión a una buena idea sin implementarla. Se considera perder el tiempo en estarla meditando sin hacerlo. Creo que como quiera hace falta más texto.

La idea de la expresión es que no hay que ser conformistas. Hay que ir por más. A continuación ejemplos que respaldan mi interpretación:

No mantengas "confidencial" una buena idea.

Si tienes una buena idea, promociónala, muéstrala, desarróllala... (no la ocultes...)

Otra forma de decirlo más positiva.

Esa es la expresión que empleamos en España, al menos, para decir que si bien, algo se hizo bien, no hay que establecerse en la autocomplacencia y hay que seguir en movimiento para no dejar de ser competitivo.

Dicho de otro modo:
La frase hecha, dormirse en los laureles se usa para referirse a alguien que vive de éxitos y logros del pasado y por ello descuida actividades futuras.

Cuando alguien se relaja o se descuida después de obtener un éxito, se dice que se duerme en los laureles, es decir, se está basando en sus logros del pasado pensando que le van a garantizar logros parecidos en el futuro con el mínimo esfuerzo y dedicación.
