Vómito en posos
'El paciente presenta dos vómitos en posos de approximadamente 500cc en total'
I have found this glossary entry about vómitos en posos de cafe:
http://www.proz.com/?sp=gloss/term&id=6235465
but I am not sure if my example is a shortened version, or if posos is just used in a general sense, and if so, how to translate it. Thanks

Comment: "Selected as most helpful as it is most likely the right translation, however, I'm not totally sure and I'm not sure if you missed my original point that I had already come across the references to 'coffee grounds vomiting' but I was questioning, since the text doesn't actually use the word 'cafe' whether this is, in fact, what is being described. Posos, as david suggest, could just be used in a general sense to refer to the deposits of vomit."

Note from asker:
I think you could also be right, and even though other answers disagree and propse the 'coffee grounds' translation, the text doesn't mention coffee, and while it may be a shortening of 'posos de cafe', it is a little risky to assume this and risk mis-translation. Thanks |

vomiting with blood
Pueden ser vómitos de sangre fresca, roja o “Posos de café” (restos de sangre digerida)

Vomiting blood (hematemesis) is the regurgitation of stomach contents mixed with blood, or the regurgitation of blood only. Vomiting blood sounds jarring, but in some cases, it may be triggered by minor causes such as swallowing blood from a mouth injury or from a nosebleed. Vomiting blood may also be caused by more serious conditions such as internal injuries or an organ rupture.

Vomiting blood (hematemesis) refers to significant amounts of blood in your vomit. Small streaks or flecks of blood in material you spit up may come from the teeth, mouth or throat and isn't usually considered vomiting blood. Blood in vomit may be bright red, or it may appear black or dark brown like coffee grounds.
