English term

parc lanes

English to French Other Tourism & Travel
The plan involves high-speed rail, urban regeneration, improvement of viability as well as expansion of public zones such as parks, squares, public services, park lanes and bike lanes.

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Discussion

Yoann Peyron Jan 15, 2016:
@ Manuela Même les anglais sont confus à ce propos, voici la réponse d'une amie anglaise et ex-traductrice : "park lanes means nothing to me and a quick Internet search seems to confirm this. It could be "parking lanes" and would seem to fit with the context, in which case the English should be corrected. BUT, there is still a possibility, that it coud be a lane through a park dedicated to bikes, runners, walkers, dog walkers.... In which case, I think an explanation should be added in both languages (activity-specific lanes through parks).
This is a case where you can only get the answer by asking the author of the text."
Renate Radziwill-Rall Jan 13, 2016:
La question était "park lanes" = ma réponse
Manuela Domingues (asker) Jan 13, 2016:
polyglot45 Jan 13, 2016:
bike lanes pistes cyclables

Allées de parcs et bandes cyclables

Park lanes and parks are different things, so both should be mentioned. Chemins de parcs would also be ok?

Pistes cyclables could also work but in my mind is more suitable for dedicated tracks/cycle paths whilst a lane would be integrated to the roadway?

a mistake in your title

Peer comment(s):

thanks
agree Sheila Wilson : This makes a lot more sense logically, even if the source is not 100% correct.
