rapage

français vers anglais Médecine Médecine (général) wound healing
I am translating a document on wound healing. Two types of mechanical debridement of the wound are given, 'rapage et curetage'. Clearly the translation of the last term is 'curettage', but is there a correct technical term for 'rapage' in English? Rasping? All help gratefully received, Sue

Thanks for your help! Many thanks to all three, I think all answers were appropriate. As no specific tool is indicated I gone for the more general option of 'abrasion' which sounds relatively technical! without being too exclusive. I think my original thought 'rasping' would imply debridement of bone only?
