Заказное интервью

Russian to English Art/Literary Journalism
Ситуация: заранее присылают тексты вопросов и дают время для ответов. Контекст скорее негативный, осуждающий.

THIS POST IS FROM THE ASKER (something happened to my account, I had to register again).
Specific context here: NNN has an "enemy" and NNN wants to damage his image, so he arranges with the third person to publish an interview where this person would say all the bad things about his enemy as if that is what the third person thinks himself. This is published in a printed media.
Oleg Lozinskiy Feb 12, 2016:
What kind of an interview is it? - 'Job interview'?
- Interview with a pop-star/politician?
- Interview with a 'victim of' ... performed by rights' advocates?

AS ALWAYS:

INSUFFICIENT DATA FOR A MEANINGFUL ANSWER
...
THERE IS AS YET INSUFFICIENT DATA FOR A MEANINGFUL ANSWER

The consciousness of AC encompassed all of what had once been a Universe and brooded over what was now Chaos. Step by step, it must be done.

And AC said, "LET THERE BE LIGHT!"

And there was light----

rigged interview I dare guess, this would be the sort of conspiracy The Misha is talking about.
http://scforum.sciencecareers.org/viewtopic.php?t=1713&p=595...

"I have already been at the interviews where the interviewers already know whom they wanted to hire, and they were just going through the motions. My experience shows that the interviewers are rather hostile and are trying to find fault with me. They ask questions which are hard to answer, and then show the facial expression: "See -- you are not good"...The best technique to succeed at the interview and also to enjoy the interview is to behave with self-respect to yourself as a specialist (especialy if you are one). This will give a boost to the self-confidence, and may even influence the interviewers' predisposition about you. However, at the 'rigged' interview, the interviewers will work hard to cast an unfavourable image upon you. It is hard for me to cope with the behavior of the people who are more experienced at this kind of games."

And with this question, there's just not enough context to tell for sure, whether it's rigged, prepared, scripted or however else prearranged, as it could easily be any of that.
El oso Feb 12, 2016:
'Заказное' In my humble opinion, the title itself clearly implies that there is something 'unsavory' about this interview. Anyway, without further context one could only speculate about the pitfalls of the whole arrangement. Until then, any of the three proposed options is just as viable as the other two.
The Misha Feb 12, 2016:
Contd. Either way, all of this needs to be explained, however subtly, because otherwise it is not at all clear what you want to say here and what the implications are.
The Misha Feb 12, 2016:
There is no specific natural term for this An interview cannot be "rigged" or "planted" except in the sense that the interviewer and the interviewee are conspiring for some unsavory purpose (which, I understand, is not the case here). You need to realize that most interviews these days are conducted this way, with proposed questions submitted in advance. Otherwise, quite a few potential interviewees would simply refuse the interview request altogether, and who could blame them (famous case in point: Nabokov). In this sense, you could probably speak of a "prepared" interview or an interview for which questions have been submitted in advance. There is nothing sinister here though, not as a general case anyway. On a different note, you can speak about a "sponsored" interview of an "infomercial" kind where the interviewee is paid to say exactly what they want him or her to say. In some cases, you could probably speak of a "biased" interview in the sense that the person answering questions supports an apparently biased position on the subject matter ("Russia is full of vodka-drinking bears," "All American Indians are louts and drunks," "White people are racist
slave owners".
Ramunas Kontrimas Feb 12, 2016:
Asker, so where's the element of 'Заказное' here?
El oso Feb 12, 2016:
planted is probably as good as the other two options
Rus-Eng pro (X) (asker) Feb 12, 2016:
А как вы оцените вариант "planted interview"?

scripted interview

Additionally connotes that the questions themselves may have been pre-selected by the interviewee - not sure whether this applies to the original sentence.

See the linkies for usage examples.

agree The Misha : Well, this could actually work, depending on the context.
