Discussion

DaHouseDocto (X) Mar 30, 2016:
Bursopathy Hi,

I have looked at the timeline of response. Although I agree with Hannah the most, the term lymphedema is a condition that involves lymphatic system in the human body, which your Dg. of Bursopathy doesn't not correspond. The code of M71.9, which the .9 is saying that is unspecified, the translation would be incorrect since the lymphedema specified the condition. I would have to see more text to give you 100% answer. If you want you contact me via message or email.
Elizabeth Spacilova Mar 20, 2016:
I agree, context is always helpful :)
Martin Janda Mar 20, 2016:
Both options seems to be right but... ...while (tissue fluid) leakage seems to be the mechanism of action, an edema seems to be the the outcome which is more relevant for the target audience. Sorry, Liz...
Zuzana Sajbanova (asker) Mar 20, 2016:
..asi rok bolesti v zápästí pravej ruky, palpačná citlivosť dorza pravej ruky s mierne obmedzenou hybnosťou - presiaknutie dorza pravej ruky..
Dg. M71.9 - Bursopathy, unspecified
Martin Janda Mar 20, 2016:
Zuzana... ... if you want a decent and relevant answer, you will have to supply more context, I am afraid.

edema over dorsum of right hand

Difference between Effusion and Edema

Fluid retention can also refer to edema which is commonly known as tissue swelling. Edema is the accumulation of excess fluid within the tissues whereas the term effusion indicates collection of fluid within a cavity of the body. There is sometimes confusion about these terms, particularly with certain organs like the lung. For example if there is fluid in the lung then it is known as pulmonary edema but fluid around the lung is known as a pleural effusion.

In the absence of further text, I am giving a definition for lymphedema

děkuji, Martine!
agree DaHouseDocto (X) : This is not bad, however I am sorry ta say that the Slovak doctors has really poor terminology used in domestic records. However if you look at the WHO code description. In absence of further text I would agree with Hannah.

leakage

More context (from the rest of the report would be helpful. Perhaps there is leakage from a wound on the hand, or perhaps fluid from elsewhere is leaking from (or to?) the hand.

Change: swelling (tissue has increased water content or blood supply).

disagree DaHouseDocto (X) : Leakage is incorrect v tomto pripade. Kontext is necessary pri ENG

Of course it is. I entered this before I got the context :)
