Description of a work of art
In exhibition notes, for a pastel drawing. Context: "Les jaunes chaleureux, **traités avec bonheur** dans la chevelure dorée, éclairent la scène et contrastent avec les noirs profonds de la robe." Does this mean that the yellow is used successfully, or haphazardly (as in "petit bonheur"), or what, please? Any help gratefully received!

I would not used 'treated' here. Although this term is certainly used in art writing, say, 'in the felicitous treatment of the paint surface', or other such descriptions, it does not fit here.

Or I guess you could restructure that and say: "zealously applied". I just found a feature on Cezanne's work:
"Although perhaps best known for his repetitive, almost obsessive landscapes of Le Mont Saint Victoire near his home town of Aix-en-Provence, and his groupings of apples and oranges painted as simplified geometric forms with WITH ZEALOUSLY APPLIED PAINT STROKES, the so called father of cubism, post-impressionist master Paul Cézanne also painted another set of rather astonishing works which in my opinion easily qualify as some of his most captivating works."
