Plenty of ideas in the glossary of course, including one of mine. Honours is a misleading term in English, and I don't think it is safe to translate it. The class describes the honours or grade. so second class honours just means "with a second class grade"

For those who answer without being familiar with the UK system followed in New Zealand, I would add the following:
Degree classification
Nearly all students will be awarded a degree with honours at the end of their course. If a student is awarded an ordinary (or pass) degree (i.e. a degree without honours) this is usually because they have failed the honours examination, or significant parts of it. If this is the case some universities will allow the student to retake the examination for a pass degree only.

In other words ALMOST ALL degrees include the word honours in their title, so it has nothing to do with the idea conveyed by "honor" or "honores".
