Няма съответствие на Запад, това са източноевропейски традиции, основно славянски. Идеята е, че като отпият от горчивото вино, младоженците трябва дълго да се целуват, за да отнемат този горчив вкус.

Предложението за превод трябва да е нещо удобно за скандиране и мисля, че bitter е много удобно в случая. При всички случаи трябва да се обясни на чужденците какво стои зад този призив. Но те така или иначе надали ще викат на английски, оставете им транслитериран вариант в скоби.

Друга опция е Now a kiss! или Kiss the bride!

If this is the same as the Russian "Горько'" when you encourage the newlyweds for a kiss, so this is clearly a tradition of Slavic origin, and has no equivalent.

At the ned of the ceremony the priester / or the registrar says:

"You may kiss the bride." or "You may kiss each other."

In Hungary the registrar says:

"Greet each other with the first kiss now as husband and wife."

Sorry I entered my answer but... suddenly remembered my wedding kisses (I was married twice...) so I just loved the pictures and did not sent the answer :)

IMHO - смисълът на "Горчиво!" е да "подслади бъдещето" на младоженците с глътка "горчиво" вино! Няма да се впускам в обяснения за очевадното... ;-)

Normally, at the end of a speech in honour of the newly- weds (e.g. best man; maid of honour, father of the bride, etc.) the speaker would encourage the guests to toast the couple by saying: "To the Happy Couple" which is an encouragement for the guests to toast the bride and groom and for the couple to kiss. There are many examples of this in various films, the most essential of which perhaps is Four Weddings and a Funeral.
