Marqueurs spécifiques de prise

français vers anglais Médecine Médecine (général)
From a medical report of a young child admitted for gene therapy, with a diagnosis of X-linked chronic granulomatous disease. It is a heading:

Marqueurs spécifiques de prise: DHR: 20% (XX/XX) et 28% (XX/XX).

NB. "XX" are dates.

So what kind of markers are these? What does "de prise" mean here?

DHR = Dihydrorhodamine

Thank you.

Discussion

Sue Davis Nov 17, 2016:
Prise could also possibly refer to the use of DHR as described in my answer to assess the effect of treatment - is this an assessment after treatment? more context would help
Drmanu49 Nov 17, 2016:
Prise is usually intake, prise de médicament.

specific uptake markers

The marker is Dihydrorhodamine. This is a fluorescent marker of superoxide generation by neutrophils. In this condition, there is defective production of superoxide by neutrophils and uptake of the marker is reduced. The percentages may refer to the percentage of neutrophils taking in the fluorescent marker See:

I should have also said that superoxide production is thought to play a role in the antibacterial action of neutrophils. Therefore reduced DHR uptake resulting from reduced superoxide production is an indication of the impairment in neutrophil immune function.
