PACKAGING TERM
I am translating some files relating to production and packaging of a pharmaceutical product. This phrase occurs several times including in - 'Remplir 10 aquilux contenant 100 sachets chacun. Les faire passer du coté conditionnement secondaire pour *mise en carton de groupage* par 1000 sachets'.
I understand that groupage can refer to the practice of consolidation, here I suspect it just refers to filling multiple boxes for a bulk order. I would welcome confirmation or otherwise, plus is there a standard way to phrase this? MTIA - Sue

I think "de groupage" is redundant. By definition, putting them in boxes is grouping them.

Daryo
: not quite - a bit more precision is needed as this is "conditionnement secondaire" IOW these are boxes containing several smaller boxes themselves containing 100 retail units each

No it isn't. It's boxes containing "aquiluxes" containing sachets.

: Yes, or box, or carton.

Daryo
: was maybe OK in some other context, but why a "case" should associate in general with "grouping items" is not obvious at all!

: "case" is often used in this way.

Discussion
this kind of packaging containing several retail packs (here "1000 sachets") would be usually called "wholesale packaging" / "master boxes" and similar, but there might be some other term specific to the pharmaceutical industry.
there is a similarity with:
10 aquilux contenant 100 sachets chacun // mise en carton de groupage* par 1000 sachets
