Russian term

не будь

Non-PRO Russian to English Bus/Financial Economics
То есть, не будь в списке поставщиков ЕС и Канады, американцы могли бы продать нам и 300 тысяч, и 400 тысяч тонн.

How should I rephrase it? Thanks
Change log

Feb 4, 2017 18:43: Rachel Douglas changed "Level" from "PRO" to "Non-PRO"

Feb 6, 2017 19:22: Jack Doughty Created KOG entry

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (3): Susan Welsh, The Misha, Rachel Douglas

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Quite true :)
"Should there be" is a little more formal than others.
Susan Welsh Feb 2, 2017:

If there weren't

That is, if there weren't EU and Canada vendors on the list, Americans could have sold us 300 or 400 tons.

sorry, EU and Canada:

**should there be no suppliers from the EU and Canada on the list, Americans would have been able to sell us (as much as) 300,000 or even 400,000 tons**

Thank you, Fedarchuka.
neutral The Misha : Your grammar is a little out of whack here. It should be either "should there be/Americans would be able" (forward looking) or "had there been/Americans would have been able" if it already happened in the past. The way you have, it makes no sense.

Yep, right. Thank you, The Misha
