Initial Type Testing (ITT) is a crucial part of the CE Marking process. While CE Marking shows that a product meets required standards, the ITT demonstrates the performance of the specific product or component.

ITT testing and reporting must be either undertaken or existing testing verified by an independent Notified Body for the following:

Load-bearing capacity of safety devices to EN 14609 or EN 948
Thermal transmittance (u-value) by calculation to EN ISO 10077- 1 or EN ISO 10077-1 and EN ISO 10077-2, or hot box testing to EN ISO 12567-1 or EN ISO 12567-2.
Dangerous substances – declaration of conformity.
Ability to release – only required where emergency exit devices, hinges and panic devices are supplied fitted on external pedestrian doorsets in escape routes. Testing to EN 179, EN 1124, EN 1935, prEN 13633 or prEN 13637
Any other product characteristics declared by the manufacturer on a Declaration of Performance.
Any ITT data cascaded from a supplier must have been verified by a Notified Body and must be valid for the worst case scenario that you manufacture.
