Bonjour à toutes et à tous !
Qu'arrive-t-il aux soudures défecteuses par le biais du verbe "to recover" ici ?
"Notwithstanding Article XXX and any other provisions of this CONTRACT to the contrary, the CONTRACTOR shall be fully responsible, and shall not be reimbursed by the COMPANY, for:
[...]
the costs or expenses of exposing, repairing, renewing, replacing and ***recovering of faulty welds*** where such welds were performed by ZZZ"
Merci beaucoup !

recouvrir la soudure défectueuse
In actual fact, by the time the faulty weld is being re-covered it will/should be a repaired weld.
There is no reason why the list of nouns couldn't be replaced by a list of verbs.

: Extremely convincing reference - you happen to be on speaking terms with the subject matter or you are just guessing / assuming ??

Finding out that "recouvrir" is here the opposite of "exposer" is really rocket science (or maybe requires no more than just seeing what's staring in your face?) //Ever heard of "originalism"? Sorry, make that "plagiarism"...

: Not here, please see rest of context. It is actually not 'recovery', but 're-covering', i.e. 'covering up again' having first 'exposed' them.

Discussion
It's only what's in between "exposing" and "re-covering" that concerns the faulty weld itself.
The weekend is getting closer as well... That will also help!
"the costs or expenses of exposing, ... and re-covering of faulty welds"
It is referring to the 'making good' required after these defective welds have been exposed; it might be e.g. by removing paint, dismantling panelling, etc. etc., and of course all this has to be properly re-instated afterwards.
