Spanish term

licenciatura en medicina veterinaria

Spanish to English Science Certificates, Diplomas, Licenses, CVs
The certificate is from a Mexican university.

The course title is: Licenciatura en Medicina Veterinaria y Zootecnía.

It seems neither bachelor nor degree would work since (in the US) they would imply the completion of previous study programs. According to the Internet:

"Would-be veterinarians must hold a bachelor's degree at a four-year college before moving on to veterinary medicine school. Undergraduate work should focus on chemistry, biology, zoology, physiology, microbiology and anatomy."

Looking at the course subjects, this is definitely not a pre-course.
Any ideas?

Hi Paty Since this entry already exists in our glossary and it was authored by Charles Davis, I feel it would be inappropriate for me to post it as an answer. If this solves your issue, you can always close the question with "answer found elsewhere" as a reason. Have a great day!

Allegrotrans, thanks for the suggestion but the University does not have the info in English.
Lorenab23, thanks for the link. Very helpful indeed. Please add it as a response.

Hello Paty Please read this excellent answer provided by Charles Davis regarding equivalents. I think this applies to your situation as well.

Thank you, Marie!
agree Alex Ossa : Although Charles Davis's answer in lorenab23's link is indeed excellent and full of valid points, Licentiate can be construed as a specific level of degree for foreign universities that may not be applicable. Degree is more neutral.

Thank you, indeed, Alex. Sometimes context extends beyond the document, into the realm of perception across distances—and time. Language is not just about words. Very well said!
agree Stephen D. Moore : In Ecuador, at least, a Licenciatura is in fact equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in the USA. Perhaps a brief footnote would be in order, explaining the academic level involved.
