English term

Whilst

Non-PRO English to Italian Law/Patents General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters in a patent
Come tradurreste "whilst", che compare tre volte nel passaggio di seguito:

- "In step dark recovery of the retina is allowed whilst images of the retina are periodically captured by the imaging device. In step the bleaching module is not operated whilst the measurement module periodically generates low intensity light at one or more wavelengths in a predetermined sequence. Whilst the reflectance illumination at each wavelength is introduced to the eye, a corresponding image of the retina is captured
by the imaging device".

Grazie !

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (3): Rachel Fell, Francesco Badolato, Grace Anderson

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

con contemporanea

In questi casi è più opportuno tradurre "while" e "whilst" come "allo stesso tempo" o "in contemporanea" per sottolineare la simultaneità dei due processi:

"In step dark recovery of the retina is allowed whilst images of the retina are periodically captured"
=
"Nella fase di buio si permette il recupero della retina con contemporanea cattura periodica di immagini della retina".
Peer comment(s):

agree Lahio : Completamente d'accordo, altrimenti la prima frase non avrebbe alcun senso compiuto. Mentre nelle fasi seguenti sono d'accordissimo con "mentre/laddove".
