breakout

English to French Tech/Engineering Electronics / Elect Eng Automotive electronics
Hi all, here is some context

It was reported that a machine had CAN communication errors
Depending on the positioning of the harness under the ECU the P-clamp can come contact with the breakout for the CAN resistor.
If this issue is found reposition the harness so the P-clamp cannot come in contact with the insulation on the wires of the breakout.

Merci d'avance

Discussion

Tony M Nov 22, 2017:
@ Asker It is obvious that it is not a box; if one understands technically what is going on here, the P-clip if holding a bundle of wires (faisceau) which is apparently "breaking out" (the sense of 'dérivation') in order to feed something located elsewhere — it looks as if this may be the "CAN resistor", but it remains to be seen just WHY this would be remotely located? Perhaps due to siez or heat dissipation...?
The EN is poor, which means the explanation may not be quite accurate; in particualr, while a P-clip would normally be used to hold a wiring harness, here it says that it must not come into contact with the insulation of the wires in the wiring harness; one might infer therefore that the P-clip is in fact holding soemthing else instead. I'm sure you wider context or any drawings may make the overall situation clearer, but in any event, I think the fundamental issue in the translation question is clear enough.

Boîte ou faisceau ? :-( Entre les 2, je ne sais que choisir

"harness under the ECU" = faisceau - certainement pas de boîtes de dérivation dans les voitures ou les tracteurs.

disagree Tony M : I don't know if you are possibly confusing the concept of 'breakout' with the notion of 'breaking' a circuit etc.?
