Spanish term

configuración vital

Spanish to English Social Sciences Social Science, Sociology, Ethics, etc.
This is an economics/sociology text, talking about the financial crisis and the economy in general and public reactions to it. What do you think they mean by "configuración vital"? I can't find a definition of the term, but it seems to be a fairly fixed term.
Very well-written (for a change) but odd mostly Castilian Spanish to UK English
TIA!!

Original

Rough draft
Uncertainty, which is to some extent is inherent to existence, seems to have reached levels that are difficult for us to cope with.
As a result, younger generations have lowered expectations, especially for employment and consequently for **carving out a decent life for themselves**. It would be a mistake, however, to focus what could be considered a social crisis only on them.

lifestyle

I'm not sure about this, but could it perhaps mean "lifestyle" here?
Some of the contextual references I found for "configuración vital" (including the asker's) seem to point to that, while others don't.

For example, this one does:

Whereas this one doesn't:

I don't know how I'd translate it in the latter reference, but to my mind, it doesn't appear to mean "self-fulfillment." It's a more neutral term, like "empleo."

Peer comment(s):

agree Helena Chavarria : 'Configuración' is a difficult word to translate. In this case, I would translate 'configuración vital' as 'way of life'.

Thanks, Helena, yes, that's a good call, perhaps even worth a separate posting?
agree neilmac : Succinct - and neatly avoids the "configuración" quandary :)

Thanks, Neil :-)
agree Muriel Vasconcellos : Maybe: 'for their overall lifestyle'.

Thanks, Muriel. I think I actually prefer Helena's idea of "way of life".
