Spanish term

Adulto de referencia

Spanish to English Social Sciences Other
Hello everybody,

Hope you're all doing great. I just came across this term and I'd like you to give me your advise as how you would translate it. I've thought of Designated adult (it reminded me to a Designated driver), but I'm not sure about wether I'm right or wrong. Open to comments and suggestions.

This is the context:
Que cada menor tenga en el centro escolar un adulto de referencia con quien pueda desarrollar un vínculo de confianza.

TIA. Regards from Spain,
Ana

I think The asker's own suggestion "designated adult" could work. I also like both of the answers posted so far, but I suspect if I post an agree to both of them, someone might get miffed... :)

trusted adult / dependable adult

Not sure, but I think this is what is meant by "de referencia", someone they can trust or depend upon.

Trusted adults are people you can turn to when you have a problem, when something bad is happening to you, or when you have embarrassing or difficult questions. Trusted adults may range from your parents to teachers to religious leaders. To find a trusted adult, make a list of adults in your life, decide which of these adults makes you feel safe and respected, and who you think will listen and help you out when you have a problem.
