Albanian term

PED

Albanian to English Law/Patents Law (general) abbreviation
Last question: what is the meaning of the abbreviation PED when found at the top of a document from the local police in Prizren dealing with an warrant for arresting a criminal?

Ledja Jun 7, 2018:
Glad to help ...and I applaud your persistence for getting at the bottom of dubious terminology - when pressed for time, no less :)
larserik (asker) Jun 7, 2018:
Thanks Ledja I was working on 9700 words with a tight deadline and didn't have time to check your link until now. Obviously, the backwards order of characters in the abbreviation is not a special case for PED, so I was wrong when guessing for Protocol.
Ledja Jun 7, 2018:
The origin of the PED acronym... ...is positively Kosovan-Albanian :)

The rest of the document I provided a link to contains a series of acronyms with the expanded explanations in brackets which follow the same switched-around pattern:
-CN (Të Ndryshme Civile)
-CP (Përmbarimore Civile )
-CT (Trashëgimore Civile)
-EK (Kontestet Ekonomike)
-EF (Falimentimet Ekonomike)
-EP (Përmbarimore Ekonomike)
-KE (Ekzekutime Kundërvajtëse
... and so on.

My half-hearted confidence in the term referred to the offered English translation, which is a suggested one - not an established one (different countries may have their own known versions).

larserik (asker) Jun 7, 2018:
Good answers but a bit confusing Looks like the abbreviation has several meanings. As far as përmbarimi is concerned, it needs a continuation - perhaps "e dënimit". Ledja's suggestion with a peculiar word order might be explained if we find anything hinting at an English origin (UNMIK?), penalty execution decision? Xhilda's suggestion looks good but it still doesn't explain the exact combination PED. I had to deliver the translation with something I hope could be called an "educated guess", the Swedish equivalent of Protocol of Punishment Executions.

penal ruling/decision enforcement

The following is found in this document: www.gjyqesori-rks.org/GetDocument/2711

"-PED/ED/EDGJ (Ekzekutimit të Dënimeve Penale/Dënimet Alternative/Dënimet me Gjobë); ky regjistër evidenton çdo propozim për vuajtjen e dënimit, pas plotëfuqishmërisë së aktgjykimeve të gjykatës Themelore dhe të gjykatave tjera për të pandehurin me vendbanim në seli të gjykatës gjegjëse."

Court decisions are labelled with initials such as: PN (të ndryshme penale) and the word order is not always reflected in the acronym (don't ask me why).

I am not completely confident, but this is the only solid evidence I could find.
