If the patient chooses to come to NYP for care, we will require financial clearance and assign them a Patient Coordinator.

This is from a different hospital but it can give you an idea of what it is. As a medical/legal interpreter I have dealt with many international patients from South America/Spain and the requirements are pretty much the same. Pay in advance/have an international insurance accepted by the hospital/have Credit Cards with very high spending limits

Step 4: Financial Clearance
Once you are accepted for care at UCSF, we will provide you with an estimate of financial charges for the care. Prior to receiving care, you will need to pay the charges in full or provide verification of authorization from an insurance plan accepted by UCSF Medical Center
