Regarded technically, it is evident that Romanesque sculpture establishes a new relationship between the architectural structure of a monument and its decoration with figures or reliefs. Romanesque sculpture is a consequence of the architectural revolution of the eleventh century - the use of regularly cut ashlars for the first time since the fall of the Roman Empire.
