Slovak term

invalidizácia

Slovak to English Medical Medical (general)
Reumatológ vzhľadom na závažný klinický stav, laboratórny nález a imunosupresívnu dávku kortikoidov odporúčal invalidizáciu pacientky.

Does this specifically mean that the patient should be registered as disabled?

Yes, you are correct.
Disabled people in UK are eligible for some benefits. Disability has to be approved by a medical professional and I believe that is the case in your text. The term invalidity is not used.

agree Andrea Dvorska : I also understand it this way. Invalidizacia is translated as 'disability' on wikipedia.

invalidity / invalidisation

This is very Slovak term (according to the suffix) and it would mean a statistical overview of reasons of retiring as morbidity rate. Invalidism is not the right term as this rather refers to hypochondria.
