Building a pool and this is the final step in surfacing it. I've found avströning(en) but not much with just avströa. Still can't quit get what's being done

broadcast/sprinkle
This is the wording used by Rawlins Paints in the reference.
The aim here is to provide non-slip properties to the bottom of the pool.

: But Deane’s text specifically says it is to increase adhesion!

dress
You may be able to use 'dress' or some form of the word, e.g. sand dressing, dress with sand etc.

Thanks for your answer, brought me closer to what I wanted. |

Agneta Pallinder
: I quite like this, because it suggests it being the final procedure, as does the "av" in "avströa" - cf "avsluta", "avblåsa" etc.

: See my answer. The aim is not keying or providing adhesion for a membrane, etc. , but providing ant-slip.

With respect Michael, I think "disagrees" should be used with care when you have your own suggestion. Is there not a link between "tyre adhesion" and "skidding" (anti-slip)? A keyed surface does increase friction (anti-slip) after all.

Hello. Yesterday, I gave you a disagree and today I have two 'late' disagrees from you and one in a language (Swedish) that is NOT even yours (Eng to French) and in which you have zero marks in 16 years. You don't even speak Swedish!!!

Discussion
It's not actually a breach of etiquette as it's allowed but maybe cos it is hard to program otherwise and I'm actually not against it where the contested answer is clearly and wholly wrong.
But at times it can be disputed as when you have an answer up and you disagree with an alternative answer, it can start to get a bit 'tricky'. I tend to go for "neutral" in such cases if I want to comment an "alternative" answer to mine.
Anyway, "key" may not be the best which is why I had a second bash in discussions with "roughen". Jane is right too, you can't go wrong with "sprinkle" but it doesn't give any idea as to why you finish off the pool with quartz sand.
I like to think of Proz where we all work together to find the best solution but sometimes, people get "touchy" and that includes me of course :)

SafeTex
--'Is keyed', 'is plastered', 'is roughened to make it anti-slip' are all descriptions of what the deposition of the quartz sand achieves.
--Deane, please decide!
==Safetex, I take your point about misusing a Disagree and apologise for this breach of etiquette.
'Dress' would do but I feel is more often applied to horti- and agri-culture
