This term appears on the following list of materials they use at a facility where they store bean seeds:

• Bandejas de germinación
• Bolsas de muselina
• Elementos varios ferretería (grapas, manguera, fibra, alambres guaduas, arena, puntillas, accesorios PVC, abrazaderas, empaques, baldes, pajuelas, bolsas de papel, bolsas de plástico).
• Elementos varios papelería (lapiceros, marcadores, resaltadores, papel, grapadora, memorias SD, y USB, perforadora, agendas, block).

Well, ... the subject says "lab equipment" and I do a lot of work in AI research, where these terms/items are commonplace. However, I am unfamiliar with the workings of bean storage facilties and whether anything else goes on there. Also, note my low confidence level.

@Neil As far as I can tell "ferretería" means the same in Colombia as it does in Spain: an ironmonger's/hardware shop and, by extension, items sold there. All the items in this list, leaving aside "pajuelas", clearly fall into that category. But to my mind vials and straws don't. Vials and the kind of straws you're talking about would come from a laboratory equipment supplier, I would have thought.

In any case, as Giovanni has already said, it's pure guesswork, since there are several alternatives. And why would they have artificial insemination/assisted reproduction equipment at a facility where beans are stored?

@Charles In the west of Scotland, we do have a strong American influence on some of our vocabulary. For example, I'd rarely say fishmonger or ironmonger, but fish shop or hardware shop. However, in the query case, I think "hardware" is a reasonable translation for the heading. And I think the "pajuelas" may refer to the type of vials or straws mentioned below.

@Neil Yes, that's how I understand it. I think it's always been called an ironmonger's in Britain (at least where I lived); "hardware" is the American equivalent. But I still find it a bit difficult to see any of the meanings of "pajuelas" as falling into that category.

It is difficult to find a meaning compatible with "elementos de ferretería". None of the articles mentioned seems to qualify.

Which country? It does seem to have a variety of meanings, though none seems very promising. It can mean a long, thin kind of test-tube used for artificial insemination, and in Colombia, according to the DLE, it can be a "lámina pequeña de oro, plata u otra materia que sirve para limpiar los dientes o los oídos" http://dle.rae.es/?id=RUP3SCR (not exactly what is normally meant by a toothpick).

The dictionary says match, toothpick, or spill, as in a small piece of wood or paper used to light a fire, though I'm sure it could be used for other purposes. It could be any of these, and I don't think there's any way of knowing.

Pax Patinba, I think vials and straws are pretty much the same thing in this kind of scenario, or at least used for similar purposes, however I'd usually expect to see "ampollas" for vials, and "straws" for "pajuelas.

"Las pajuelas son el soporte en el que los biólogos vitrifican los embriones conseguidos en un ciclo de FIV. En ellas, los embriones pueden congelarse individuales o en grupos."

One vial of sperm is used for one insemination attempt. However, some physicians like to use two vials per insemination or even perform two inseminations per cycle. No one can predict in advance how many vials are needed to achieve a pregnancy. The vials can also be used in advanced reproductive techniques such as IVF.
