Finnish term

teoksellinen / teoksellisuus

Finnish to English Art/Literary General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
I have been asked to give my opinion on a translation about an avant-garde piece of architecture. One of the sentences reads:

Rakennus on niin teoksellista ja poikkeuksellista, että sen kautta oli helppo alkaa muodostaa käsitystä siitä, mitä arkkitehtuuri ylipäätään on, kun aloitti opiskelut.

The problem word is "teoksellinen". Presently the translation is "The building is so fashioned and exceptional, that...."

Teoksellisuus is more often used in philosophical texts, translated often as "textuality" or even "the working of the work".

Any comments welcome!

worked over

Using a term like worked over would convey that the building went through many iterations before reaching its present exceptional form.
Note from asker:
Thank you Desmond for your response. Chasing up examples, one finds things like "New X-Ray Images Reveal Just How Carefully Picasso Worked Over His Earliest Blue Period Paintings". No decision has yet been made - your suggestion generated a discussion about whether the term "worked over" was more associated with being beaten up. Another option was "worked through". I'll leave the query open for another day or two but so far, your response is the only one. Thanks again!

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "In the end they went for "worked through". "Teoksellinen" is yet one more word to be added to future dictionaries. Thanks!"
