Italiano term

cover

Da Italiano a Inglese Altro Prodotti tessili/Abbigliamento/Moda a type of fabric
Questo tessuto appartiene alla famiglia dei ***cover***. È un tintofilo con contrasto in diagonale su base pronta per tinta.
Found a definition for 'cover' in Zignone but it uses the word cover only. Does anyone know if it has a different name in English? It looks like twill. The term is in a description of a fabric used to make men's trousers. My searches only turned up fabric used as a cover for an object. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hi again toasty. I totally agree with you. However, I did initially propose twill but the client came back with the Zignone entry, which made me think they are looking for another name. Cover (in English) just doesn't cut it. Thanks for your ideas.
toasty Sep 2, 2019:
in that case... could they mean simply twill? After all, it is weave category

Thanks, toasty, for your speedy reply. I checked your link but I don't think it applies in this case. Apparently, 'cover' is one of a family of fabrics that look like twill and have a subtle raised diagonal 'stripe-like' effect on the surface of the fabric. I'm hoping someone knows a name (in English) other than cover for this. type of fabric.

Cover factor? Could this be a reference to the 'cover factor' maybe?

Based on the Zignone entry, this might be a case of toMAYto/toMAHto. If not, the last link might give you more jumping off points.

If not ‘twill’, my suggestion is without translation, simply “cover”:
“Kogin” embroidery was originally a simple contrast of plain thread on a dyed fabric, but from that progressed to diagonal stripes, herringbone patterns, - Twill is a type of textile weave with a pattern of diagonal parallel ribshttps://artsandculture.google.com/exhibit/PwLS55VaVTzcJA

Thank you, José. Unfortunately, what I need is the name for a specific type of fabric referred to as "cover" in Italian. But not an actual cover or duvet cover.
