Bed the corner bead into the compound and gently squeeze it into the corner, keeping the center straight.

Instead, “tape” the corner bead on. Using your four-inch knife, run two continuous beds of adhesive on each surface of the corner. Then bed the corner bead into this material. It will slip and slide a little bit, so just work it until it is straight, plumb and secure. Now run another four-inch bed of joint compound and imbed a strip of the drywall tape over each leg of the corner bead. Smooth this out with your four-inch knife using the outside head of the corner bead as a screed. Apply two more coats of mud, and sand in between. Always allow a coat of mud to dry overnight, remembering to sand or sponge it before applying your next coat.

Kiedyś każdy narożnik trzeba było dokładnie przygotować: zmierzyć osobno każdy element, ciąć płyty, profile i metalowe narożniki, aż w końcu wszystko połączyć i przymocować.
Następnie przychodził czas obróbki: wtapianie narożników… szpachlowanie… czekanie, aż wszystko wyschnie… szlifowanie… ponowne szpachlowanie… czekanie, aż wyschnie… szlifowanie… kolejne szpachlowanie… czekanie, aż wyschnie… szlifowanie…

6. To go around corners, cut the drywall so that it hangs over the corner of the wall. Trim it with a spiral saw after it is in place. Do the same with the other side of the corner. Get a metal corner bead (either a straight edge or curved edge) and cut it about ½ inch shorter than needed from the ground. Nail the bead in place (don’t screw it, as it will distort the bead), and space your nails about every 9 inches. Note: If you’d rather add the corner beads while you are putting on joint compound to cover the seams, that works too. In that case, cover your drywall outside corners with joint compound, fit the paper bead on top, and use a trowel to knife away any excess compound. In this case, skip step 12 in the “Coat the Drywall” section.
7. Where the drywall panels meet horizontally, cut a V-groove into the short, non-tapered edges with a utility knife. This will help hid the joint when you get to the taping stage.
