The relevant paragraph describes a test set-up in a structural engineering laboratory (testing facility) used to determine the structural behaviour of timber wall elements/components. Here goes (term in ***):

Unfortunately, I haven't got any picture.
My tentative solution: bearing rail
I'm specifically looking for an AE term, if any.

another perhaps, as it is rather difficult without pics. Take a look at the reference, there is an illustration (page 13) of the set-up of a shear testing unit.
