French term

glandes salivaires interparietales et extraparietales

French to English Medical Medical: Dentistry French - English dental course summary
Good evening! I'm working on the summary of a French dental course transcript. Unfortunately, the context is simply a list of anatomy courses:

E - Muscles
a) Muscles masticateurs proprement dits
b) Muscles sus hyoïdiens
c) Muscles de la mimique

F - Glandes salivaires
a) GLANDES SALIVAIRES INTERPARIETALES ET EXTRAPARIETALES

These terms have virtually no hits on Google. Do these terms refer to submandibular or sublingual muscles, or something entirely different? As always, a thousand thanks!
Proposed translations (English)
4 +1 Intra and extraparietal salivary glands

Discussion

Julie Thompson (asker) Aug 17, 2020:
thanks for the options! Thank you, Ms. Withers, Ms. Nelson and Mr. Nelson, for giving me more ideas.
Stuart and Aida Nelson Aug 17, 2020:
Could it refer to the location of the salivary glands or major and minor salivary glands?

There are three major salivary glands around the mouth (1) sublingual - under the tongue, 2) parotid - overlying the cheek, and 3) submandibular gland- close to the jawline).

There are also many small (minor) salivary glands, which are scattered throughout the mouth (eg you can feel them as little bumps in your cheeks and lips).

Suzie Withers Aug 17, 2020:
Parietal is one of the bones of the skull and also a lobe of the brain, but not sure how this relates to the salivary glands. It derives from "wall" in Latin, and is used in things like "abdominal wall" as well.
