English to Spanish Social Sciences Business/Commerce (general)

Hola:

Estoy traduciendo una nota orientativa sobre el uso de cierto tipo de estimaciones demográficas para llevar a cabo censos y me he topado con una palabra (layer) que en este contexto no sé cómo traducir:

"Depending on the type of census cartography from which the initial master sample was drawn, gridded population estimates can be used to update the master sampling frame in two ways. If the census cartography was digital, one can update the master sampling frame by updating populations of the EAs to gridded estimates. If the cartography was not digital, updating populations of the EAs to gridded estimates cannot be applied since EAs boundaries would not be in numerical format and it would not be possible to overlay the gridded populations layers to the EAs layers."

EA se refiere a enumeration area.

Mi propuesta por ahora es "Si la cartografía no es digital, no es posible actualizar las poblaciones de las AE a estimaciones mapeadas puesto que los límites de las AE no aparecerían en formato numérico y no permitiría superponer las capas de poblaciones mapeadas sobre las capas de AE"
