I think "cartonniers" here might mean "cartonnés", which would mean "hardcover". I cannot say for sure that this is a typo.

Hi there. I could only prove that "cartonné" can mean "hardcover". We could, though, be dealing with a typo - not sure. Have a nice weekend.
