Diría que el original podría referirse a curso monográfico o proyecto especial, tal y como ya sugerido por Pablo en respuesta. Sin embargo, sin un mínimo contexto específico no tengo claro cuál puede ser la lectura más ajustada al caso; en sentido estricto, un curso monográfico no es sino un short course en una materia específica aunque aquí podría estar refiriéndose más bien a un curso especializado de fin de carrera que el alumno debe preparar (impartir) -o vete tú a saber ;)

Probable meaning Without being sure and having conducted any in-depth research, it seems to me that this might mean "curso monotemático o proyectos especiales".
