In this scene, the narrator is remembering a friend who was killed because she had a child out of wedlock.
I'm not sure what the phrase means though - the ____ of the devil.
Here's the sentence:
كانت لي صاحبة حلوة٬ برأسها سبل الشيطان٬ ويوم حملت٬ في سفح الجبل القريب٬ رأيتهم يدفنونها....

Note from asker:
Thanks very much for this! I'm just trying to make it fit with the 'on her head' part. |

The ways of the devil
Because it's poetic, I'd say the ways of the devil instead of the devil's ways. Good luck.

Milena Atanasova
: But that's stronger than the original and you're giving more agency to the devil. The wicked ways are the agent here, their presence in the woman's head is the topic.

Discussion
Thank you so much - you're right in everything you say, of course.
1. سُبلُ الشيطان برأسها, or
2. سبَّلَ الشيطان برأسها
In light of the above, the final say can be deduced from the overall style of the article/story…etc, and the writer’s locale, background as well as the technique s/he is known to use in writing.

she'd never get her thoughts off the devil's ways
her mind always busy with the devil's ways.
And the general meaning should be "she was constantly thinking of how to get into trouble", "she was always thinking/entertaining sinful thoughts"
