US English To see the sentence in its full context (US English), see https://www.freepatentsonline.com/y2020/0238547.html "Ultimate" is being used as a preposition, of all things! And it contrasts in this patent application with "proximate".
Tony M Mar 12, 2021:
@ Saeed Yes, exactly... as I said; but also, if his was transcription, it could be 'ultimately the'... — a simple mishearing. There are so many possibilities, several of which would suggest that 'ultimate' was simply not the right term. If Asker can get an inkling of the native language of the writer, it might be possible to check by back translation what it was intended to be.
Saeed Najmi Mar 12, 2021:
It could be that the correct text is ''......configured to be the ultimate cutting element...''
Tony M Mar 12, 2021:
@ Asker I agree with W/A — I suspect that 'ultimate' is probably being incorrectly used here, perhaps intended to be 'furthest out' or even just 'the ultimate'.
Catherine GEFFRAY (asker) Mar 12, 2021:
Bonjour je pense qu'il doit manquer from (ultimate from)
Saeed Najmi Mar 12, 2021:
Correct me if I am wrong, but I, too, think there is something missing indeed.

Une possibilité est configurée pour se trouver en bout de l'élément de coupe de la tondeuse

Suggest checking back with the client Imo there is something wrong with the English (I am happy to stand corrected if my opinion is incorrect). Since it's in a patent, rather than second guess what is meant, I suggest trying to ask the client.
