: Sí, ciertamente parece referirse no a un yeso sino a una bota de inmovilización. Lo expresaría tal vez simplemente como ... una vez retirada la inmovilización (la bota ortopédica de inmovilización)

Once out of boot trasladaría la idea de "una vez retirada la inmovilización"; "le trasladamos que una vez retirada la inmovilización y con el pie curado debería intentar salir e incrementar su actividad, paseando por ejemplo".
