Italian term

gestirmi

Italian to English Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters holidays/sailing
This is an interview with a family having enjoyed a luxury sailing boat.

One of the questions the interviewer asks is about their ideal holiday.

The respone is:
"... rispetto a dove doveva essere la mia vacanza dei sogni, invece io immaginerei che questo catamarano andasse in tutti i porti del Mediterraneo e poi io raggiungerli con l'aereo, però gestirmi un po' le Baleari, un po' le isole greche, un po' l'Italia, perché la Costiera Amalfitana sicuramente non è da meno, però riuscire ad avere questa piccola casa galleggiante un po' sparsa in tutte le località del Mediterraneo."

Could someone please help me understand the meaning of "gestirmi" here?

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): Tom in London

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

I'd be able to manage

però gestirmi un po' le Baleari, un po' le isole greche, un po' l'Italia

I'd be able to manage a bit/a little of the Balearic islands, a bit of the Greek islands, a bit of Italy

So he is saying that if he flew to the ports he could manage a bit of sailing here and there without it being too tiring.

visiting

As I understand it, the luxury sailing boat sailed the Amalfi Coast only but this person would have liked this "little floating house" to go everywhere in the Mediterranean stopping in all tourist places of interest, so to be able to visit also some of the Balearic and Greek islands, and a bit of Italy.

The catamaran was obviously manned.
