I would like to select Philippe's as the right answer but the only option I am given is the European Public Distribution one, which I don't want to select. What should I do?
jethro (asker) Jul 29, 2021:
Thanks for all your efforts.

I found the Dutch and that says verspreide PE-geleiders
via distributed PE conductors
Tony M Jul 28, 2021:
@ Asker I think Phil has the right idea with PE = Protective Earth (and the international standard abbreviation PE is used in FR too)
The only problem is, what they seem to be saying is illogical! It actually tends to contradict a lot of what is said in Phil's reference. I'm wondering if they have actually got frightfully muddled up, and are actually talking about the FG (Functional Ground) that is mentioned in Phil's ref; suddenly, it would all make a whole lot more sense! If this FR text is indeed an intermediate translation, then they should ask for their money back, as it is dangerously wrong!!
Tony M Jul 28, 2021:
@ Phil The only thing is, I can't seem to find that text on that web page? Sure, it is talking about the same subject — but the actual wording isn't the same.
Philippe Etienne Jul 28, 2021:
@Phil Looks like it: https://fiduspower.com/news/understanding-iec-appliance-insu... - A case of EN PEMTed/translated to FR, then translated back to EN wouldn't be surprising.
jethro (asker) Jul 28, 2021:
Sorry, it automatically set it up as Dutch to English (one of my language combinations), how do I switch to French to English?
Mair A-W (PhD) Jul 28, 2021:
... are you sure this belongs under "Dutch to English" ?
philgoddard Jul 28, 2021:
PE could be protective earth.

There's a reference to an international or European public service and a trade union which connects various groups and organizations. There's also a reference to SEPA, a Single European Payments Area. The Euro-system supports the implementation of an allocated area for payments in euros, which aims to allow payments to be carried out, which are detailed in euros, with the same basic conditions, from the same account, regardless of the country of origin.

EN: 'They aim to guarantee that the powered devices are from Class 2 (by European public service distribution or supply)".
Example sentence:

"L'Eurosystème soutient la mise en place de l'espace unique de paiement en euros (SEPA) qui vise à permettre d'effectuer, dans l'ensemble de la zone euro, les paiements détaillés en euros dans les mêmes conditions de base, à partie d'un même compte

Peer comment(s):

disagree Tony M : Nonsense in this technical context, which is talking about Class II insulated electrical equipment. Your ref. is utterly out of context and irrelevant.

disagree AllegroTrans : This is clearly a technical (electrical supply) term and SEPA is about bank payments. Why do you post this nonsense?
