English term

controlled to filling

English to French Other Engineering: Industrial
During the ignition sequence (FG ignition is active) the trip shut-off valve opens, the fuel control valves are controlled to filling and subsequently to minimum stroke respectively (see detailed description in training lesson “Ignition Fuel System”).

What Gilou is moaning about is in fact NOT part of this question - it's about how "fuel control valves" should be translated!

"fuel control valves" =

soupapes de contrôle du carburant?
or
régulateur de pression du carburant?
or
soupape de réglage de pression de carburant?

is certainly worth clarifying but THAT'S ANOTHER QUESTION and wouldn't change in the slightest the answer to the question THAT WAS ASKED.

Which is: this piece of hardware (whatever you call it in French) being "controlled to filling"!

Schtroumpf Sep 13, 2021:
Jean-Paul ROSETO (asker) Sep 13, 2021:
Daryo Sep 12, 2021:
No ways in a year of Sundays the fuel control valves are controlled to filling
=??

In this sentence these valves are not "in charge" of anything - it's exactly the other way round - these valves are being controlled IOW these valves are at the "passive / receiving end" in a controlling relationship, the "active" end being some kind of "control/regulation mechanism".

English term (edited): [the fuel control valves] are controlled to filling

This does sound a bit odd, but there is ONLY ONE interpretation that could possibly make sense:

the fuel control valves are controlled to filling
=
the fuel control valves are set (by whoever or by whatever is their "control mechanism") to the setting for "filling"

CL5++ about the meaning, OTOH this could be transalted in many ways.

If our MT can't make the difference between a piece of hardware and the functioning of some hardware (what it does/how it works), it's high time to junk it.
