Szanowni Państwo,

czy możecie podać angielski ekwiwalent tego zdania z literatury lub szeroko pojętej kultury angielskiej. Chodzi o to, żeby zawierały zarówno wyznanie miłości i warunek trudny do spełnienia, żeby związek był trwały jak u Fredry. Lub coś podobnego, aby Anglik od razu wiedział, o co chodzi. Tłumaczenia z krokodylem jak te w przykładach poniżej z Googla mnie nie satysfakcjonują.

Herkules zwykłym śmiertelnikiem nie był. Jego praca prawie na pewno byłaby niewykonalna dla innych. p.s. zgrabny rym ci wyszedł :)

Jeśli przyjąć, że to jest życzenie prawie niemożliwe do spełnienia, to mamy szereg idiomów angielskich, np. castle(s) in the air/sky/Spain, pie in the sky, a pipe dream, wishful thinking, a will-o'-the-wisp, a Herculean effort/task.

Wiekszosc tutejszych odpowiedzi oddaje oryginal (w kazdym razie "uzywa" :D - krokodyla ;), jednak nie przejmowalbym sie brakiem zrozumienia lub mozliwosci dotarcia do zrodla (po angielsku), bo "Zemsta" Fredry ma oficjalne tlumaczenie na j. angielski, a wydanie jest zaopatrzone w ISBN.

Myslę, ze uzycie w tym oddaniu slowa "infuriate" - bardzo poprawnie tworzy podobieństwo logiczne z oryginałem.
