Spanish term

de columna segmentos lumbar

Spanish to English Medical Medical (general) CT
Regarding a CT ... it is of the lumbar spine, but how does "segmentos" come into the picture?

What does this mean?

Discussion

Joseph Tein Dec 26, 2021:
Ahh... When you provide the complete information needed, this becomes quite clear.

It's a CT (yes, that's what tomografia computada means) of the spine, focusing on the lumbar segments.

Please think in the future to provide the complete sentence where a term or phrase is found. And as Muriel said, it's often helpful to provide at least one sentence before and possibly what follows. It clarifies the meaning and makes it possible for your colleagues to help you.

Tomografia computada de columna segmentos lumbar It's the title of a CT
Joseph Tein Dec 25, 2021:
Context As Muriel says, it would help to see the complete sentence where this fragment is found, also throw in the preceding sentence, for clarity. It's impossible to figure out the meaning from such a limited sample.

This might be saying "... of the lumbar segments [of the spine]" but we really can't tell at this point.

(Hi Muriel ... Feliz Natal!)

Context? Could you give us a couple of sentences in Spanish leading up to and including the phrase?

Lumbar CT

I fully agree with Joseph, there are many ways of saying it, but you normally see the shorter version in dischrge letters, in this case "lumbar CT", or "CT of the lumbar spine".

You do not need "segments" at all.

agree Joseph Tein : actually, this is also correct (we need to fix the spelling: lumbAr). "lumbar spinal segments" OR "lumbar spine segments" fit nicely when we see the complete sentence..

computed tomography of the spine, lumbar segments

Or: computed tomography of the lumbar spine ... I think this would work also in this context.
Peer comment(s):

agree Muriel Vasconcellos : Both versions work.
