French term

Bloc de décalage d’axe.

French to English Medical Medical (general) knee replacement
I am revising the translation of a product description of an artificial knee prosthesis. This term occurs in connection with the long versions of the "quille modulaire" (modular keel) associated with the tibial component.

Pour les Ø16 & Ø18 T=3=LF=Longue à fente & T=4=L=Longue. Exception IMP35001= Quille modulaire XS & IMP35005="Bloc de décalage d’axe".

I am assuming this is a component that modifies the axial alignment of the tibia but can"t find a useful reference. The translator has put "axis deviation unit". My attempt - axial offset block.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Thanks for your help everyone. No Liz I have not found this phrase anywhere in relation to knee joint prostheses. Thanks for looking.

axis shift block

And especially in this last reference, there's clearly right at the beginning of page number 5 the following point: ''... intermediate component providing the possibility of shifting the axis of the stem with respect to the tibial tray and the femoral component'' [on the left of the picture]

Axis offset block

I majored PT at a medical school. Here are some of the references which may answer your question.

Changes in Femoral Posterior Condylar Offset, Tibial Posterior Slope Angle, and Joint Line Height after Cruciate-Retaining Total Knee Arthroplasty

What is offset in orthopedics?
Femoral offset is the distance from the center of rotation of the femoral head to a line bisecting the long axis of the femur (Fig. 1). This radiographic measurement should be accurately performed and varies according to the hip rotation.

An Innovative Method of Assessing the Mechanical Axis Deviation in the Lower Limb in Standing Position

What is mechanical axis deviation?
Mechanical axis deviation is described as medial or lateral malalignment. It is the distance between the centre of the knee and the mechanical axis line with a proposed normal value of 10 mm medial (range, 3 to 17 mm medial) [5]. Various methods of measuring mechanical axis deviation of lower limb have been described.

alignment block

Having looked at this as someone who is anything but knowledgeable in the field, I came to the conclusion that they are not going to 'désaxer' anything, other than to the extent that it involves a 'réaxation' of the knee that had been previously 'désaxé'.

So we're looking at '(re)alignment'.

As I say, I'm just guessing, but it might be worth looking into.

Confirm alignment using the TIBIAL ALIGNMENT BLOCK and tibial alignment rod. Make adjustments to the proximal tibial face cut, if necessary, to ensure alignment of the rod with the mechanical axis of the tibia (Fig. 16)
https://pteufratmed.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/014-Freed...

Once the correct placement is confirmed the alignment tower is removed and the TIBIAL ALIGNMENT BLOCK is fixed to the tibia by pre-drilling and placement of a central pin.

agree Anastasia Kalantzi : Sadly, I couldn't agree more with your comment. I've made it myself to find a suggestion only via ''knee prosthesis'' element [Greek origin's term].
