tunneling
Hi everyone! I need to know the difference between "framdrift" and "indrift".
see example sentences below
"beskriva sambandet mellan *framdrift* och bergförhållande"
I understand that this means how many meters you have cut in the rock and advanced with the tunneling.
"Under själva drivningsarbetet påverkas *indriften* enligt vår erfarenhet, såväl under förinjektering, sprängning och skrotning, av att berget är av dålig kvalitet"
"Med *indrift* menas längd på salva och antal salvor i veckan, som man normalt följer upp produktionen"
can someone help me figure out how to translate "INDRIFT"? Tack på förhand!!
you can reply in English, Swedish or Italian.

(tunneling) progress vs (blast) round length
In more than 2 million words with tunneling tender documents, this is what I have used. Using 'progress' covers more situations and contexts, but is less technical. Blast round length is used much less often and is more specific. Each blast round involves several holes of equal length, but that length varies based on the rock quality you are working with. Here's some reading.

: Now we’re making progress - another blow struck for “progress” over “advance”. Just wish I had your courage. :-)

Thanks, Charles! Fun to hear ... but yeah we're all only a work-in-progress! ;-)

: I trust you will supply links to those 2 million words of tunnelling documents to TNC Terminologicentrum so they can correct the "bergteknisk ordlista" that they have been issuing since 2016.

I do use the TNC Skog gloss, and see your terms are in use. I had a Swedish engineer reviewing my technical stuff on these words so this passed his eyes before being translated into Chinese for the end customers who reportedly won their bids. But....

advance per round
Referring to the "Bergteknisk Ordlista" issued by TNC, I find that "indrift" is "advance per round". I presume they are talking about blasting rounds when using explosives to tunnel into hard rock.
"Framdrift" is given by the same source as "advance" in a more general sense.

Assessment of Rock Mass Quality and its Effects on Chargeability Using Drill Monitoring Technique
For an efficient mining operation, it is essential to have as much information as possible about
the ore to be excavated and the rock masses surrounding the ore. Geological information and
the content and distribution of extractable minerals, are central concerns for long term mine
planning. However, for mine stability and production scheduling, the mechanical conditions
of ore and side rock are also very important. The underground mining process normally
consists of a number of unit operations, such as drilling, charging, blasting, loading,
transportation, hoisting etc., linked in a production chain. The quality of the initial operations
(drilling, charging and blasting) normally defines the pre-conditions for the following loading
and transportation processes in the mine. The ability to fully charge holes as planned has been
identified as one of the major obstacles for smooth fragmentation. Course or uneven
fragmentation will, for example, significantly affect the loading and transportation efficiency
in the downstream production chain.

: Well, an official sounding text that incorporates split infinitives suddenly seems very dubious.
