This is probably more accurate than "making attempts".

So it's more a matter of intention. From the brief description, it seems her behaviour was brutal. She hit them and threatened them. There seemed to be some ambiguity about the verb "επιβουλεύθηκε", so I wasn't sure whether to take it in the sense of attempted murder. |
