equity capital/ owned capital

The part of the capital invested in the company by the owners and the share-holders, not various creditors. Capital raised from owners.

Financial risk covers those risks that threaten the financial health of the farm business. The capital structure of any business includes both debt (borrowed) and equity (owned) capital.

In the case of a one-person business, for example, one wouldn't talk about "shareholder's" equity?!
