@ Carol Gullidge There's also facies dolorosa which is defined as "facial expression of an unhappy person or one sick or in pain". It gets a fair amount of hits. However, once hits related to the book by Hans Killian are eliminated, there's not much left so I decided not to suggest it as answer.

Facies This is in fact a medical term in English, so - assuming that the French and English target audiences are of similar levels - it might be better not to “mansplain” it for the English audience!
