Fetal presentation
Not sure if this simply means hands-first, or if it refers to something more specific such as the "nuchal hands" referred to in this article: https://www.simplyborn.com/blog/2021/birth-presentation#:~:t...
But the idea of saluting or greeting isn't consistent with the idea that the hands are tucked up beside their head or face. Thanks in advance for any insights.

: I can't find a definition of "high guard", and I'm not sure if it means the same as saluting.

Thank you very much, Phil. 'High guard hands' is mentioned in a row with 'saluting' as an example of the newborn's defensive behavior on page 84 of my second reference (from above).

: but there is no page 11 or 12, I can only see 5 pages and 'Salutieren' is on page 3.

THX for the clarification. No clue how I came across pages 11 and 12. It's pages 256 and 257 in the original document.

I don't know if this is just a literary compound or if it has something to do with medicine in the context

: For glossary (and other) purposes, better to keep it in nominative. Same goes for Asker.

Sonst eine Umschreibung wie baby's hand(s) below/at its head in labour.
It seems a shame to use a technical term for such a colourful image.
Here's an example of 'lebensfrisch' - I'm not sure how I'd translate it. Lively?
