Spanish term

rebaba de hierro caliente.

Spanish to English Other Construction / Civil Engineering Construction work.
I would like to know the best translation of this phrase from Mexican Spanish into American English.

Colleagues from Spain, feel free to send me your suggestions as well.

It's a translation of a legal deposition done to someone from Mexico. This was done for an American attorney and a witness from this country. He is a construction worker and technician.

This is for Latin People living in The United States and Americans readers. Is okay to translate it as bur of hot iron?

Here is the full paragraph:

Attorney: Can you please tell us how your accident occurred?

Mexican witness:

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): Toni Castano

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

(hot) slag

based on your explanation of the accident this is my best shot.
The word "rebaba" strictly speaking is burr (or bur) but it is attached to the piece, what flies off is the slag, especially when hot.

Muchas gracias Maria. Saludos, Yugoslavia.
Estimada señorita Maria, Gracias por su ayuda. Se me olvidó preguntarle que yo noté que la palabra hierro no fue traducida cuando me envió la sugerencia ayer.

To answer your question, Yugoslavia, I'd say "hot iron slag". Check this: https://nasdonline.org/58/d001628/eye-protection.html#:~:tex...

Why don't you do some research yourself?
