Here is an item regarding harbour gates, which extensively refers to "garaje", which all my dictionaries translate conventionally as garage (for cars). But...

The only two explanations I knew about "garaje" are a) a place to park cars and b) a place to repair cars. I've looked at the dictionary of the Royal Academy at this it what its says:
garaje.
(Del fr. garage).
1. m. Local destinado a guardar automóviles.
2. m. Taller de reparación de vehículos.
I know it's still not very helpful regarding harbour gates, but this is the only thing I can come up with.
